Disappointed In Roman Holiday

I stayed at the roman holiday for 4 days in august of 2004. Upon calling I found the personnel to be very unfriendly and unhelpful and it seemed that my business was not wanted or needed. I let it slide thinking I just caught someone on a bad day. I only stayed there last year (2004) because of a high recommendation from someone who stayed there for quite a few seasons. I would never have recommended the motel so highly. My standards are high as far as cleanliness, friendliness and service. I also felt I was continuously being watched by the staff positioned around the hotel. They didn't seem to be acting as security, they seemed to be spying on you to make sure you weren't doing anything against their policies. Maybe the owners/staff need customer service training and the rooms need to be cleaned with a lot more care. I should have followed my own instincts.

A Great Seashore Vacation

I really do not understand why other reviewers have spoke so unfavorably about the roman holiday. I have vacationed in wildwood for over 15 years - and almost all of the hotels in wildwood are horrid - but the beach and boardwalk keeps us coming back every year. This past year we were delighted to have happened on to the roman holiday. The room were were in was very clean with an awesome view of the ocean, and location - right on the beach. I found the front desk staff and management to be very helpful and friendly - offering many suggestions on things to do and places to dine. I am looking to come back again this summer. This is the hotel to stay at when in wildwood.

Still Needs Alot of Improvement

Visitor Review
Visited the roman holiday last weekend while in town for an event. The view from the hotel is great and the pool is very nice, though the weather wasn't and we didn't get to use it. The rooms leave alot to be desired. I've read the reviews on this site and in my opinion the rooms really need to be updated. They seem to be freshly painted but the furniture has seen better days and is terriibly dated. The rooms could also be a little more "cheerful." housekeeping was accomodating but the rooms could be a little cleaner. Management was not very friendly when i checked in and i really didn't interact with them again until i checked out. The person that checked us out was a little more friendly. While in town, i checked out another property that is also condo/motels and it was much nicer. The rooms were gutted and all new. There is also another property just a couple of blocks away that was also all new. While i enjoyed the view at the motel, i don't think that the high nightly rate was worth it. Next time i'd rather be at a little more newer and nicer place.
