Pleasant Experience

We stayed during july 2005, and we had a great time. We had two rooms, both efficiencies. One was occupied by my husband, daughter and me. The other was occupied by my elderly parents. One room was newly renovated, but both were clean, spacious and comfortable. Everything worked fine- a/c, full size fridge, etc. The pool and property were clean, and the beautiful ocean view was tops. I had a concern about the tension that existed between the houskeeping/ grounds staff and management. On more than one occassion they argued with each other in front of guests. But even so, housekeeping and management were both pleasant to us as guests; and housekeeping was hard-working. We will definitely consider returning to this property. We've been coming to the crest for many years, and of the properties we've stayed at, this one ranks well in our opinion.

Big Disappointment

I booked my reservation just a few weeks before traveling and i paid for it, both monetarily and in the quality of our accommodations. Ocean holiday leaves a lot to be desired and is not worth the $230+ per night for a one room suite. Here were some of the problems we experienced: the parking spots are designed for compact cars and do not accommodate today's larger vehicles. Also, our "snail" car carrier got damaged in their parking garage because the height is not posted until you get into the garage. We had to squeeze into a spot with posts on both sides one night because it was the only one left that was not in the garage area where the height was an issue. Every night when we went out, we dreaded having a parking issue when we got back. One elevator at the far end of the hotel is not adequate and if you want to use a luggage cart, you have to maneuver it through their tight parking garage being careful not to damage any parked cars. When we were leaving we opted to make several trips to the car rather than deal with that cart and elevator again. The pool is small, paint is chipping off on the bottom, and despite signage that children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, management did nothing when three boys were on their own horsing around in the pool for hours at a time. The same kids did this at least two days in a row. Also, the portable grills are located in the pool area and stink up the whole area when someone is grilling. They should just get rid of them. The bathroom and the kitchen in the room we had was new but the toilet had problems and you had to constantly jiggle the handle to stop it from running. When i reported the problem to the office, someone else was there with a similar problem and her shower wasn't working so i guess we were lucky. The rooms were cleaned each day while we out and we were provided with an ample supply of towels, but the floor was never swept or vacuumed and by the end of the week was very sandy. My husband slept on the day bed/pull out bed in the main room and suspects that some of the bites he woke up with several mornings were from bed bugs. Luckily, we had no problems with the two beds in the bedroom. There is only one ice machine and it's located on the 4th floor. The ice isn't protected by a cover or dispensed as needed. It's just in one big bin where anyone can put his or her hands in and contaminate the supply. I considered it a health risk so i never used it. All in all, ocean holiday was a big disappointment. I will never go back. I know if i had booked earlier, i would have found much better accommodations at a much better price.

Great Time At The Ocean Holiday

We were not expecting much as we made our 2 1/2 hour trek from ny to wildwood. Our friends had told us that all the places were at best , second rate. We took our chances, held our breath and booked our reservations at the ocean holiday motor inn at columbine & ocean ave. In wildwood crest. We have two sixteen year old girls, our 2 year old, my husband and myself, we had a blast! Our rooms were spacious and clean. We were steps from the beach and a trolley ride from the boardwalk. The beach was very clean, both sand and water and the pool at the ocean holiday, although not extremely large, was perfect. A great time was had by all and we will definitely return to wildwood crest and the ocean holiday.
