The Driftwood Motel Kiiiiiiiiiid

I went there during labor day weekend with a couple of friends. Even though this motel is pretty family oriented, we still had a good time. You are basically on the beach (with a pool), and they have a snack bar with great grilled gleezes, if your tummy is empty. Although there were a lot of families, everyone was slinking less. My neighbor made me a sweet margharita. My other neighbor was glogging every ten minutes. Pretty normie p huh? The jeers for me were going down pretty nicely all weekend while I was staying there. I highly reccomend this motel for families and those who never got in a house-share and need a place to gleep at the screatch.

Much Better Than The White Sands.......

Last year we stayed at the white sands. Although our accommodations were okay, it was way too expensive for what you were getting. Anyway, this year, we decided to check out the driftwood motel. Our room was right by the pool, it was clean and very accommodating for us for a family of five. The best was the people we met, the staff was great, the beach was clean as was the pool. Our room was kept beautiful everyday with the great cleaning staff. Our bathroom could have been more updated but everything else was great. The snack bar was reasonably priced, much better than the white sands snack bar. We are going back next year without a blink. My three kids had a blast. Even the hurricane coming up the coast didn't stop us from having a great time. We were a little disappointed with the fact that there wasn't a lifeguard on duty at all times but other than that, we loved every minute of it, especially sitting on the deck at night with other families, eating and drinking.......

Although the driftwood motel is on the ocean side of ocean ave., it's a far walk from the boardwalk attractions (we took our car). While the rooms are adequate (clean, new carpet, good mattresses), we did hear people (kids?) Running around on the floor above us for a long time late at night. You can really hear every footstep! Also, while the pool and pool deck were very nice overlooking the beach, we were disappointed that the beach was roped off so we had to stay on the small "private beach" area. The guests of the hotel didn't have to pay for the beach (a plus), but didn't have access to the adjacent (private) beaches. Honestly, i think i would have rather paid for jenkinson's large public beach, down by the boardwalk. In summary, our stay was just ok. The people working at the driftwood were nice and allowed us to check in early (we were lucky, i guess). But, i don't think we'd return, because it was a lot of $$$ for a motel room with few amenities... No clock, no shampoo, very small tv with fuzzy reception... Oh, one more thing, their parking lot is terrible! We pulled all the way in (a courtyard lot surrounded by their buildings) and i was so nervous about getting out that later that night when someone parked across from me had moved their car, i moved mine out to one of the neighboring side streets.

My only problem with the driftwood was that they sent me a flyer with pre summer rates .so when I went to book the room they told me that it was sent to me by mistake and that there summer rates start june 14 when I wanted to book .the flyer said there pre summer rates were till june 25. They told me sorry .so I booked with a motel up the street there still on pre summer rates till june 25th .the proper thing would have been to grant me that rate . Summer must come a little earlier 2 blocks away.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Decent Rates - Budget Quality

For being on the beach at the nj shore, the rates were ok... But definitely a budget hotel. When we went in the room it was obvious it was not rented at least the week prior. It smelled musty and it was about 90 degrees in the room. In addition the ac didn't work and as hot as it had been there's no way someone could have been in that room without an ac. When we first told them about the ac they said since it was saturday evening they couldn't do anything about it until the next day at the earliest. It was so hot and uncomfortable we went to book a room elsewhere, but the driftwood would not refund our deposit. After much arguing they took the ac that was in their office and put it in our room. Beyond that the place is just old... The closet doors were missing the knobs, things like that... And you wouldn't think of using that sofa bed. But the view was nice and it was on the beach and though it wasn't cheap by any means, it was less than some of the other options.
