This summer(2002) will be the third year we have stayed at joe and theresa's sandaway inn. There is a good reason we return. The friendly atmosphere, and service we recieve. They treat us like family. Better than family.

We had 2 really good experiences there. Only problem was the matress was a bit hard one time. I think if we went there again we'd definitely take our air-matress to put on top of it, just in case. Other than that, it was great and really close to the beach.

Nothing Like I Thought!!

We visited the sandaway in july at a very busy time of the year. The owners were very friendly and the lobby very nice. When we got to our room we were very disappointed. The place is in desperate need of rennovation. The beds need to be replaced and the our sink was in the bedroom. The parking there is a major problem. Once you park don't move because the chances later of getting a spot are slim. Or if you do get one you will probably get blocked in. My husband wouldn't stay. He went home. I stayed with the kids because they would have been disappointed since they had been looking forward to the shore. It is is a good location but I will never stay there again.

Avoid At All Costs

To call this place a toilet is too kind. The owners are friendly and nice enough but the rooms are so run down. Bathrooms terribly designed and cramped, furnishings threadbare and for what you pay, you get very little (our room was about the size of a walk-in closet, for $120 a night). The worst thing was the bed, very uncomfortable. And it had bed bugs which unwittingly we took back to new york with us,and which bit us every night back home for two months.

Try Somewhere Else

I had never been to ocean city so i had to do reasearch online. I went to the sandaway with my husband and 2 children. I chose it because it seemed quaint, is close to the beach, had no 3 night requirement and was less expensive than some others. The lobby is clean and cute like an old inn. But we got to our room and it was barely tolerable. Very cramped. Dingy, dust an inch thick on the window sills and the baseboards. Nothing on the walls, dirty white. An old blind on the window and no curtain. Saggy worn mattresses. I could have tolerated all that (i tried to make the best of it and remember that you spend little time in your room when on vacation)but.....the bathroom is where i draw the line. The sink was in our bedroom......i'm not talking a little outside sink, dressing area like in a marriott. I'm talking.....a rusty sink sticking out of the wall about the size of a salad bowl. The bathroom (which was dingy and dusty) had a pathetic bent towel bar......and the worst......was the shower stall. It was basically a small stall which was painted. Yes, painted on all surfaces and i had to shower with my flip-flops. The "continental breakfast" consists of soggy eggo waffles which are left out half defrosted in a basket, some lenders bagels, cheerios, and a very limited supply of coffee......the toaster is cruddy and has to be shared should you dare to toast your bagel. It's nice to have a porch to sit out on in the morning, but it's furnished with plastic chairs which have never seen a bottle of fantastik, and the cigarette butts are all over the floor out there. When i asked if they had beach tags (i was new at this and naive about how things work) the girl at the desk simply said "that will be 40 dollars". I gasped and took them thinking i had no choice. No one ever explained that it was (or wasn't?) A deposit and all i had to do was return them when i was done. So i spent that money for no reason, i thought i was buying them. I am going back to oc this year, and will not be staying here again.

Really Disappointed.

This was our first visit at the sandaway inn, and sadly it will be our last. Our tiny room was in desparate need of a make over. The air conditioner had a large hole in it making it look unsafe, as if it were running on its last leg. The room reminded me of a tiny storage room. The matress had definitly seen better days. Travelers beware!!!!!!!!!
