Avoid This Place Like The Plaque

I want to preface this review by saying that this was our third time staying at the motel with out past experience being satisfactory. We initial began frequenting this establishment because we want an inexpensive motel that offered only a two night minimum stay. To our surprise they had changed their policy to a three-night minimum and raised their prices significantly (approximately $40). They also reclassified most of their rooms to ocean view which is laughable given that even the regular rooms have the same view, which is that upon leaving your room you can see the ocean. We should have stopped ourselves at this point, but we had luck before and a $10 off coupon so we booked the room and i took an additional day off of work. It only got worse from here. Upon arrival i was barely able to squeeze my mustang into the parking place and in fact i had to tell my passenger to get out before parking, as there would not have been enough room to open the door once in the parking spot. I some how managed to squeeze myself out of the car without my door denting the car next to me (if you value your car do not come to this motel). The rest of the weekend i found some of the few parking places that enabled me to open my door enough for me to get out easily or i parked on the street. One person actually exited their suv through the rear hatch. Now onto the room. The room itself is satisfactory although i do not know how these beds offer massaging ability unless the springs that you can feel count as a massage. The bathroom on the other had looks like it has not been updated since the 1970's building of the facility. The showerhead was barely in the wall, the knobs for water adjustment where loosely placed on at best, the shower wall was covered in mildew and finally the water temperature was unstable at best. This bathroom would be at home in your uncle's cabin and not a $150 a night motel. We were able to take these little problems because my girlfriend and i are easy going. The finial straw was the free changing and bathroom that they offer to you on the day of the check so you can clean up for your ride home. My girlfriend was the first to check out the bathroom as i loaded the car. Upon my return (and a couple more quarters in the parking meter, since i value my car) i found her upset and the manager unwilling to help us. So why was she so upset. The bathroom had not lights and only a small square foot window for sunlight. The floors were grimy. The used mop and bucket were sprawled out on the floor, and finally the toilet had human feces gently floating around as if the toilet had overflowed and no one done anything about it. I approached the manager about the condition of it after he told my girlfriend that there was nothing he could do about it. His response to my inquiry, which was civilized, was 'blame it on the american public they are such slobs'. The kicker was that at nine o'clock that morning when i came down for the continental breakfast (which is coffee and donuts) another customer came to the front desk with a report about the condition of the bathroom. So nothing was done about the bathroom from 9am to 1:30pm. When i confronted the manager with what he was going to do about it he said that he would get to it later. At this arrogance i responded with telling him that the board of health would not like this at all. He o list things that were wrong with the room and blamed us for the condition of it. Needless to say we never give our business to this gentlemen again and we hope that those reading this will not either.

For a 150 a night you would expect a modern bathroom. Instead its a 1970's era style which at the time it was put in was very modern. The shower head is attached to the wall with a thread and a prayer. Also if you can get used to the hot then cold then hot water its not so bad. Do not believe anything on the website the place looks nothing like that anymore. Just look at the cars in the lot and you will know the that the pictures were not taken rescently.i do not recommend going near this place for a couple bucks more a night go anywhere else.

Well everyone.. It is june 5, 2003.. And I just got back from ocean city, nj today with my girl. We celebrated our anniversary down there and stayed at the ocean front motel. I don't know how the rooms were last summer but I can tell u that this summer they were just fine. The rooms looked new and were kept clean. Hte bathrooms had tile walls and floors and white and neutral colors and the tub was done in that new one piece fiberglass set. The water stayed at the temperature u put it at through out your shower. The beds where cozy, just like a normal bed in any typical hotel room. The man working went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. Plus the place is right on the beach, 2 steps and ur on it. I recommend this place for ne1.

We have just enjoyed a wonderful week in ocean city at the ocean front. Although two previews reviews from 2002 were not postitive, I would like to say that our experience as of july 25th, 2003 was very pleasant and the manager went out of his way to be accommodating to all of the guests. The room was clean and tidy, as well as updated. This by far was one of the most reasonably priced hotel located in ocean city. The other hotels are extremely over priced and perhaps that could provide a reason as to why there were so many vacancy signs~or, the former manager of the ocean front is employed elsewhere. A pool would be great though!! Maybe the owner would consider that in the future...... John was a wonderful host and we hope to continue vacationing there for years to come.

What More Could You Ask for?

We loved the ocean front and ocean city, nj. The hotel was wonderful, beachfront and right on the boardwalk. It included off-street parking so you can stow your beach gear in the car and grab it on your way to the beach. The patios have a beautiful ocean and boardwalk view. The way the hotel is set up allows you to enjoy the patios for sunbathing or eating or playing games while your kids nap or watch tv in the room. We were looking for a place that would be friendly to our kids with the flexibility to help us to relax and enjoy our vacation. We found it. Thank you, for a great vacation. See you next year!

One To Remember

Our family travels as much as we can. From maine to florida, and we ourselves own a summer cottage in the mountains of pa. We just spent a week at the oceanfront motel with our family, which includes two adults, two teens and one happy toddler. This hotel was probably the best as far as location, for the price, that we have stayed. Safe and kid friendly, a fabulous view, right on the boardwalk it is all at this place. The rooms are a regular motel room and work just fine. John and his staff are caring, courteous, and completely dedicated. We all were satisfied with the experience (even the teens!). So go there to enjoy ocean city, it is your best choice.

Ocean front motel was recommended to our family by a friend. Originally from nj, we have been fl west coast residents for 25 years but our heart belongs to the beach in ocean city, nj! We have stayed at many different rental homes, hotels, motels, etc. In the area but have fallen in love with the ocean front motel. Location, cleanliness, cheerful staff can't be beat! The children in our family say this trip was even better than the cruise we took to mexico last summer!

My 2 daughters and I spent the best 3 nights/4 days at this motel...we have every intention of making this a yearly vacation, only difference being, that we will be adding more time!! John and the rest of the staff were great, very friendly, saw to our every need. The room was very clean and modern...you can't beat the price especially for being right on the boardwalk!! Stayed there the past few years, fell in love w/the motel & its location, I think the best in qcean city, & its staff is the greatest, from the manager, john capolbo, down to the housekeepers. The price,rooms location,being on the boardwalk & ocean cant be beat anywhere on the atlantic coast from jersey to florida. Stayed in myrtle, atlantic city, virginia beach & many in florida, & ocean city,md. In all my years of traveling to the beach, I keep coming back to the ocean front motel for a relaxing vacation & meeting wonderful people, & god willing, i'm going back in a couple months. We stayed at the ocean front for a long weekend - it was very nice. The location was very convenient - right on the beach and boardwalk. The room was very well kept and quiet. The view from the room as well as the deck was outstanding. Both bike rentals and food establishments are within 1/2 block. I would definitely recommend the ocean front - we plan on going back there next year!

Greetings from ohio! We recently returned from a trip to ocean city, nj ... And had quite a great time. We traveled in september, which in my opinion was a great time to go. Mostly everything was still open, some shops just close a little earlier, but there were no huge crowds to contend with. Anyhow, we decided to stay at the ocean front motel, and i'm really glad we did. My wife and i were quite pleased with what we got for our money. The motel has free parking, which if you've never been to ocean city free parking is tough to find, and the bonus to the parking was the fact that it was a covered parking lot. Parking is a bit tight, but really easily managable. The staff at the motel was incredible! I believe the managers name was john, if you need any questions answered or advice as to what to do he is your man. And now on to the room... The room is a normal size room as to what you would expect any motel room to be. Our room came with a nice view of the ocean, refridgerator, 2 full size beds, color tv and a good sized bathroom compared to most motels. The rooms were very clean, and if your messy like my wife and i you get up in the morning and leave and return a few hours later and notice how nice of a job the housecleaning crew did. Looking back on our experience there is not one thing i can think of to point out as to why someone wouldn't stay here. The view of the beach is awesome and the location of the motel is right smack dab on the boardwalk. I strongly recommend a trip to ocean city, and i also recommend staying at ocean front motel. Parking A Problem

Lack of parking spots major concern. Also most spots very very narrow. Most are between cement pillars so be prepared for some dents and scratches. Rooms tiny with changing area for baby. Used mattress leaning in hallway entire stay. Place just plain boring and not very friendly.

My family and i have stayed at the ocean front for five years in a row. The rooms are clean the staff is the friendliest people you will ever want to meet. John is more than a manager he is more like a host. He will go out of his way to make your stay the best possible. No matter what he is doing he will stop to answer any questions or just carry on a conversation. The cleaning staff is kind and courteous and very good at what they do. Even if i sat and thought about it real hard i know i could not think of one bad thing to say about the ocean front. I've read the other recent reviews about parking at the motel. The only reply is maybe they should learn to drive and park their vehicles! I had no trouble what so ever with parking and i had a van. I would recommend this place to anybody.oh yes one more thing i had a reservation for six days and five nights. Originally i was going to have to move to another room for the weekend. The only room available was more expensive. John worked it out so i did not have to move and i actually saved money on a pre payed reservation! How many places would do that?

We just got back from the ocean front motel and we had a great time. The staff is excellent and very attentive. The parking is a little tight, but if you are a good driver you should not have a problem with parking. John is the nicest person that you could ask for. He always stops and talks to you and wants to know how everything is going. He goes out of his way to make sure everything is okay. I would recommend this place to anyone who is interested in going.

Could not ask for a better location or a more friendly staff. Loved sitting on their deck taking in the sun and the ocean. Location is literally right on the boardwalk with about a 10 yard walk to the beach. Staff was always available and extremely helpful. Even accidently left a few essentials there and they promptly sent it to me in the mail. This motel gets two thumbs up from me and my friends. Looking forward to retuning next year.

We just returned from a fall trip to the shore and completely enjoyed our stay at the ocean front motel. The manager is very accommodating and the location on the boardwalk is wonderful. We had breakfast on the deck and then took a walk on the boardwalk. The beach is just a step away. Parking is tight but it is tight for any motel near the beach. We store our bikes near our car with no fear of them being stolen. We plan to return in the spring.

I stayed recently at the ocean front with a friend from europe. I have to say that we both really liked this place very much.the first thing that really impressed us was that the people working there were so nice and friendly . The manager was so wordy every time he saw , he came wanted to know if we are satisfied witj the room and everything...then, the view that you have is so wonderful. I`ve stayed in some other places in ocean city and i`ve never had such an opportunity to be so close to the ocean.and the best thing is that the rates were just normal. We really enjoyed our first stay there we eill be there again for sure.that`s all I can say!:) we were so happy with our choice!

My wife and I have been staying at the ocean front motel for the last few years and this year when we were there we were informed that it will be converted into condo's. We wish this wasn't true and would not happen, but if it must we would like to see it remain as is for 1 more year so we can enjoy staying there again. Once it goes condo we won't be there anymore. We have stayed at the ocean front on several occasions, in june, august, and october. John is great!!! It's so nice to pull in to the lot and see him coming out to greet you. He seems to always remember us, and comments on how the children have grown. It truly feels like we are coming homw to old friends. The rooms are nice and comfortable, and the location can't be beat! We just spent another wonderful vacation with john and his great staff at the ocean front motel. I feel that it is a great family motel, and our family meets there every year for a wonderful memorable vacation. You just cannot beat the location (right on the beach). From the deck at the motel, we could keep an eye on other family members who were on the beach. And, at night, the experience of sitting on the nice deck overlooking the ocean is priceless. The rooms are clean, and john does everything he can to make us feel right at home. I look forward to my next stay there.

My wife and I usually take day trips to ocean city since we only live about and hour away but this weekend we decided to get a room and make a weekend out of it. Ocean front motel was great. The staff was extremely friendly, and the service was great! The rooms were very roomy and also clean. We also had an oceanfront room and the view was the best! Can't wait to go back again! My family has become yearly visitors to the ocean front motel. We love coming here. It has a great ocean front location right on the beach. The staff are the most people friendly in all of the motel/hotel business we have ever experienced. The manager john will try to do everything he can to make your stay the best you will ever have. I love boardwalks!!! I had a wondeful time at the ocean front motel. I enjoy "walking the boards" it was so nice to stay close to one that has lovely shops and a beautiful beach!!!! My children enjoyed the amusements too. The manager ( john) was very helpful. He went out of his way to accommodate us. Sometimes the staff of a place sets the tone and this place is a-1 I highly recommend the ocean front.
