I stayed here in mid-October and I thought the value was tremendous. Although the hotel is a little out of the way, I loved the neighborhood.

"Outstanding Find!"

Although very old and historic, the Virginia Hotel has been updated to include all of the modern conveniences. A delicious breakfast is delivered to your room, or can be eaten on the extensive front porch. The staff, including the valets, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We will return! The location is very close to the beach as well as the shopping and restaurant areas. Everything is within walking distance.

"Great last minute off season deal"

Fabulous stay mid week in late April. Great location, loved the continental breakfast. Room decor seemed modern-in the 70's, but that would be nitpicking. Very comfortable and would stay there again.

"Wonderful Weekend"

We spent a wonderful weekend in early April at the Virginia Hotel. The room was very nice -- not large, but well appointed. The staff was friendly and welcoming without being pushy. Dinner in the Ebbit Room was lovely, though not inexpensive by any means.

Wonderful Weekend!
By Anonymous on Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Visitor Review
My husband and i just returned from a wonderful weekend at the virginia hotel! It is centrally located: half a block from the beach and among the victorian cottages. Our delightful room was extremely comfortable, elegant, and quiet. Everything was perfect; from terrycloth robes, plush towels, & cozy down comforter to bulgari bath accessories. The hotel lobby, veranda, and lounge were elegant and beautiful. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The evening piano entertainment in the sitting rooms and verandas was delightful and relaxing. It was romantic to have cocktails on the veranda and listen to the pleasant music. The restaurant, the ebbitt room, is the best in cape may! Our dinner was delicious!! The ambiance is comfortable and elegant; the staff is friendly and professional. Their "tasting menu" was superb; everything was prepared to perfection! Our wonderful "continental" breakfast, which was brought up to our room, consisted of delicious coffee, english breakfast tea, twin bowls of sliced fresh fruit, yogurt, bagel, sweet roll, and the best croissants this side of the atlantic! The virginia hotel is a wonderful, elegant retreat and we look forward to many return visits.

Mixed Feelings About The Virginia
By Anonymous on Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Visitor Review
I have very mixed reviews about this hotel. We went for an overnight stay hoping for a relaxing getaway. The hotel lacks charm and and is not big enough to accomodate all the people that come to the restaurant and bar. We stayed at the hotel and we could not find seating to relax with a drink at the piano bar. The biggest problem was sunday morning! Our breakfast was delivered to our room an hour later than we requested (8:30am) despite having called the front desk at 8:15 to tell them we would like breakfast as soon as possible. We had to make another call at 9:20 when our breakfast had still not arrived. We also had to wait 25 min for them to bring our car sunday at check out as they did not know where it was parked by the valet upon our arrival on saturday. He had to go to a few lots to find it! For what we payed, i would expect better service, considering they only have 24 rooms and to assure that guests of the hotel are accomodated before accomodating outsiders inot the common lobby area. I recommend that you stay somewhere else!

Loved The Virginia Hotel
By Mike and Janet on Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Visitor Review
We just came back from a new years weekend away at the virginia hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted by a valet who quickly took our car away while another virginia hotel employee grabbed our 2 large suitcases and carried them up 3 flights of stairs. We checked in immediately and proceeded to our room on the third floor. It was so beautiful and it even came with a roman shower. I later found out my fiancee had us upgraded because he was going to propose on new years eve, which he did on a horse and buggie ride (highly recommended). Each night we would either order hot chocolate or a glass of wine and a beer, sit by the fire and listen to the piano player. I felt as if we were the only people there because we were so well taken care of. The lobby is so warm and inviting and made us feel like we were sitting in our own living room. I think we took 50 pictures of the hotel alone. The room had a very elegant charm along with a bed that made you feel as if you were sleeping in the clouds. We will definitely be back.

Perfect for A Romantic Getaway!
By Anonymous on Tuesday, June 13, 2006

Visitor Review
My husband and i just returned from a wonderful overnight stay at the virginia hotel. We dined at the ebbit room a few years back, but were never guests of the hotel. Since that time, the hotel has been beautifully redecorated. We chose "the jackson room", which is one of the suites with a porch. The room was quite lovely; the shower was very relaxing with numerous shower heads. The service was excellent. I had the misfortune of leaving an expensive piece of jewelry behind and contacted the hotel as soon as i realized this. The front desk was amazing and dropped what they were doing to find my jewelry. They found it and sent it to me at once. In this day and age, honesty is key. I overheard some people saying they were disappointed in the new decorating as it is art deco, old hollywood glamour instead of true victorian, but we thought this set the hotel apart from the rest. The decorating is really something to see. We loved our stay and look forward to returning soon.

Hmmm

Visitor Review
Just returned; mixed review here. Service was good/responsive. Room was forgettable although the bed was very comfortable. Blinds only on the windows made sleeping in difficult, as did noise pollution from the street below. Because this is an old hotel be prepared to hear some noise in the rooms, especially from the hallways. That said, the hotel's common areas are very inviting and its restaurant, the ebbitt room, is absolutely outstanding.
