Great Place To Stay

We have stayed here 3 times, each time in the new tower building. Rooms very clean, spacious and quiet. I agree that there should be screens on the sliding doors to enjoy the breeze, but that is so minor I almost forgot about it until I read one of the previous posts. A great place to stay.

Mediocre Beach Motel

Our experience overall was not bad other than the items above. It is right across from a quiet part of the beach which is not as crowded as those nearer to town. However, you must drive to most restaurants and all attractions since it is too far to walk to town.

La mer is a comfortable place that offers a pool, beach views, they also have an excellent restuarant, mini golf for the children and a bike rental. We didn;t need to drive anywhere in cape may!!! Was awesome.

We Loved Lamer

Our family of 4 stayed at lamer from august 7-12. We picked it because of it's location, which is away from all the other large hotels. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The service was great.

Great Stay

A beautiful place and super location. The room was large with oceanfront view. Very clean and had a wonderful pool. Parking was ample and a mile walk to the town center so it was far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Will definately stay there again.

Great for Families
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

We brought our 10 and 13 year old children for a long weekend and this is a great family hotel! I am sure that some of the other "more elegant" places are better for a romantic getaway or business trip. However, with picky kids, this was a hit. We had a very large room (not a direct ocean view but we could see it from the balcony) and the built in kitchen with nearly full size refrigerator and microwave, granite countertops and stocked with dishes for 4 was a hit. The bedroom area with two queens was larger than most and the tvs have been updated.

What'S Not To Love
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
We've been coming to this oceanfront motel for years and can't think of a better place to stay. The place is well-maintained and pride of ownership shows in the sparkling pool and tidy landscaping. Conveniences run from a refrigerator and tv in every room to bike rental, mini-golf and a lovely restaurant with patio for dining al fresco. A 4-story addition in the past few years has added real pizzazz to the place. The rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious, each with its own mini-balcony, making even a rainy day at the shore pleasant. Our only suggestion would be to add sliding screens to the doors so you could benefit even more from that lovely ocean breeze at night. The rooms in the original 2-story section could benefit from a facelift, but with many of them facing the ocean, it's still a place that's hard to beat.

Great Place To Stay

We've been staying at this place for many years and we've found it to be much better than any other hotel in cape may. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and the convient location across from the beach makes it the idea place to stay. For simply being a moter inn, it has everything, a restaurant, a bar, 93 rooms and coffee in the morning. I highly recommend it.

Great Stay

I have been a guest of lamer many times over the past 28 years and I have always found it to be a clean, comfortable and well run establishment. They have a wonderful beachfront location with great views of the sea. The family is always entertained by the mini-golf and bicycle rentals. The on-site restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and on the rare occasion that I have a concern they are quick to correct the issue and I am back to my vacation. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Great Location
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

The la mer motel offered our family very pleasant accomodations during our stay in cape may. It has a beautifully landscaped lawn and pool area, overlooking the ocean and beach. We found the rooms to be spacious, very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The restaurant "the waters edge", lives up to its reputation of being the best in the south jersey area. Our family enjoyed playing miniature golf as well as riding bikes, both of which were availabel to us at the motel. It's a great location; away from the hubub of the center of town but close enough to walk or ride your bike to it.

I recently stayed at the la mer motor inn, and I was highly impressed with the accomodations. I stayed in the newly renovated building, and I must say it was spectacular. The rooms are spotless, and the decor is just right for the beach. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is picky about where they stay!

What A Wonderful Surprise
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
Being from florida, my family is rather spoiled by beautiful beaches. I have been to the delaware shore, which I would just call a shore line. Cape may, nj and la mer motor inn were welcome surprises! Cape may is beautiful and historic with plenty to keep an active family busy. The la mer was very clean - and very well attended place to enjoy the northeastern shore. Our ocean front view was spectacular and the staff were always ready to see to our every need, taking the time while very busy to suggest finer restaurants and points of attraction. Thanks to the folks at la mer for making our stay a pleasurable one.

Plenty of Room for Family of Four
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
I stayed at the la mer august 2004 for one week with my husband, 8 year old son, and 6 month old baby. We stayed in the new tower facing the beach. Our room was on the 3rd floor so we had a wonderful view of the ocean (the balcony was great). The room and bathroom were very clean! Housekeeping was wonderful (extra towels, pillows) everything was in good condition and did i mention clean. There is a large mirrored closet when you first walk in the room, two queen beds with a small kitchen area (no stove) but our maid let us borrow a microwave from the storage room. We also had a good size sitting area. The pool was clean with plenty of chairs. This was our second stay at la mer and will return in the future. The only drawback is that you are not in the main part of the strip but that was okay for us since we enjoyed the walk especially after dinner. We had a great time at lamer!! We would highly recommend this hotel.

On The Edge of Hotel Strip - We Really Enjoyed Our Stay
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
Although the hotel is under renovation - we were still pleased with our stay. The room was spacious with a deck - nice for wet towels and suits! We have 5 & 9 yr old boys and they both loved the pool - pool has fenced off 1 ft area for the little ones - while the rest of the pool is open to all. The pool was sooo warm - it was nice after cool ocean water.

Great Hotel
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
The newly remodeled la mer hotel is great - fantastic location at the less congested end of the beach, great outdoor pool, clean new bathrooms, furnishings, etc. The only negative thing I could say is that the woman who checked us in was not very friendly when we arrived before the "official" 3 p.m. Checkin time and that the wakeup call I requested for the next morning never occurred. Other than that, the hotel is great and I would definately stay there again!

Door Problems At The La Mer, Cape May, New Jersey
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
We have stayed at lmer for many years and have usually enjoyed our visits until this last time. We were unhappy because the lock on our door would not function properly. At times we could not get into our room, and at other times, we could not leave the room because the door would not lock. My husband requested another room, but the clerk said there was no vacancies even though the light on the street was flashing there was a vacancy. The lock was finally replaced twice on tuesday, the day before we were to leave and this time it seemed to work properly. This was great deal of trouble for which we were ot offered any compensation.

Fantastic Oceanfront Hotel
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

We stayed two nights at this hotel due to being moved from the atlas on a short notice and told there was a severe plumbing problem....only to find out reading on this website that the room we had been in had a lice issue. Anyway, moving to the lamer was the best thing that could have happened to us. New, clean, beautifully decorated. Almost too nice for a beach hotel but so worth the move. The restaurant is the best restaurant I have ever been to on a vacation trip. If you stay at the hotel or even if you are elsewhere make the trip to the restaurant, you will not be disappointed. The pool also was very clean and the beaches just beautiful. I must say the older woman at the front desk was rather rude, but overall the hotel is fantastic. I would definately consider staying again.

Just The Facts
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

I stayed at the "new" la mer beachfront inn over the labor day weekend in 2005. The single room was very upscale with a kitchenette built in. Everything was very nice and "new". Now, "new" could be good for some, but to a person that has allergies the "new" carpet, sheets, wallpaper, and paint smell made new sick! I was able to compensate when i turned off the electronic thermostat and opened my sliding door that over looked the ocean (bonus). In the "new" bathroom was a nice "new" pile of dry-wall dust left over from construction. That was o.k. Because it was overlooked by the organic bar of sandalwood soap on the sink (my favorite sent). I wrote a nice message in the dust for the cleaning staff (hi). Finally, the hallways to get to the room where left un-modeled and dirty, kind of turns one off when entering a room for the night. Also, the hotel is about six blocks away from the heart (arcade) of the beach ave; expect a nice walk!

Loved La Mer

I had the pleasure of staying here on a cold and wintry weekend in december. I purposely came down for the annual craft show for a girls weekend with my daughter. We loved this hotel. Everything was brand new and clean. (some of the plaster was still damp!) The location is great, in a quiet area and across from the beach. Employees are very accommodating and friendly. Our room was well-appointed and had an incredible view. We had breakfast in the on-site restaurant, and, I initially thought it was on the pricy side, but the portions are very generous and that meal carried us all day to dinner. I will definitely return again in warm weather to enjoy the beach and pool.

Stop The Search...La Mer Is It

La mer is the best place to stay in cape may. The location is to die for - it's ocean front on the more quiet end of the island. But close enough to ride bike or walk to the center of town.
