Disappointed

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights, but only had washcloths for 2 of those nights. There were no hand towels or bathmats, we substituted bath towels. There was no phone or clock in our room. We had a kingsize bed, but it was made up with double bed sheets. Also, our sheets were never changed during our stay. There was no ice maker. I don't know why, but our room was extremely humid (our pills turned to mush). Air conditioning is supposed to remove humidity from a room. Maybe we expected too much, but at $180 a night, plus tax (paid in cash, up front), we felt we deserved better.

A Terrible Experience

We booked this motel for three nights at the price of 250 dollars a night for a two room suite (with a kithenette). The minute we saw the rooms we wanted to run away, but because we sent a cheque for 250 dollars in advance and there was no refund, we decided to stay for two nights. The living room with the spare sofa had no air conditioning, the sofa was unbearable. The airconditioning in the other room made a tractor noise. The whole room was dirty. There were ants crawling in the kitchen and garbage under the beds. If not for the beautiful beach and the wonderful sea that were five minutes walk from the motel, the experience of staying there would have been a real nightmare. We chose that motel because we assumed that if it was approved by AAA it must be OK. We do not understand how such a motel can be approved by AAA.

My husband and I recently stayed at the heritage inn in cape may and could not have been happier. It was our 20th anniversary and we reserved a room for 4 nights at the inn. Our room was fabulous. It was on the 3rd floor with spectacular views. From the sundeck on the 4th floor you can see the entire beachfront. Our housekeeping was impeccable as was the staff at the inn. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely young lady who could not have been more pleasant. We have recommended the heritage to our friends and family. I know that they will enjoy the heritage as much as we did. We also plan to spend many more anniversaries at the heritage in addition to bringing our children and their families. Thanks heritage for a great stay.

Hell Hole Is Now Spelled H-E-R-I-T-A-G-E I-N-N

We booked a stay at this motel from 8/25-8/29/05. My wife and i both work very hectic schedules and it is very difficult for us to find time off to spend with our 2 young children. As a family on a budget, we are hardly big spenders and are used to staying in modest accomodations on our infrequent vacations. We came across this excuse for a motel from the cape may times website. As it had a aaa rating and there were no vacancies at other cape may inns, we regrettably booked this place. I should have known to stay away when they asked for payment by cash or money order (but not credit card) up front for the first night ($205), then the remaining balance in cash, debit card or money order (but not credit card) for the full stay once there. I have always used a credit card to secure the first night in other establishments. On arrival at this hell hole, i realized why they have this policy. They do not want you to have your credit card company stop payment. They did not give a aaa discount either. The owner told me she had a lovely efficiency for us. On arrival, we were in for a shock. The owner, gloria finley, asked for the full payment by cash or debit card up front. I unfortunately gave her the remaining nights payment in cash ($789). The room (#15) was depressing, smelly, small and in disrepair. A pole hanging from the ceiling was the "closet." the gnat-filled, shabby bathroom had a bathtub with stains of unidentified origin and a sink that did not work. The toilet ran incessantly. The kitchen was a stove top with a mini refrigerator. We could have done better camping out.

Do Not Stay Here Under Any Circumstances

I sent this to the better business bureau: my husband and i made reservations at the heritage inn, 721 beach avenue in cap may, nj. We'd seen their website and were attracted by the listing that they were "newly renovated". When we checked in, we immediately noticed a noxious odor in the room. It smelled like paint remover. We mentioned it to the woman at the front desk and she said that they'd painted that room in the spring. It shouldn't still smell at the end of the summer. We opened the windows, but got no relief. All night long there was noise above and below us. In the morning, the banging was so loud we thought someone was at our door. And still the fumes lingered. We went to the front desk again and asked to check out one day early. We met up with the family in the room next to ours who were also complaining about the same issues. We were told that we could not get a refund for the night we wouldn't be using. We then noticed that the rooms underneath ours were totally gutted and were being worked on. That's where the fumes were coming from. We were finally granted a refund for the night of 8/26. We checked out and went over to the ice machine, so that we could bring water to the beach. The woman from the front desk actually threw herself across the machine and said we couldn't use it. She was totally rude and abusive during the entire transaction of checking out, as well. We will never stay at either of the heritage inns and plan to write to them as well as aaa (who gave them their approval) and the cape may chamber of commerce. They are a horribly run establishment with rude and obnoxious service people. We decided to leave cape may and went to ocean city instead of spending more money in a town like that. We were treated very well by the people at the ocean manor where spent our second night. Thank you.
