Stay Away...It'S Not Worth Saving A Few Bucks

My girlfriend and I just returned from atlantic city. Overall it was a great trip, but didn't have anything to do with this hotel. The casino, halls, and room all are showing their age. All are poorly lit and maintained. Our room (supposed to be a king-non smoking) ended up being a smoking room (which was converted the day before with new jersey's new smoking law) with two beds. The hallways were like going through a cave. Only half the lights worked in the hall. In the room their was no remote for the television, and get this, the tv was so old the paint on the control buttons on the front of it were wore off, so we had to hunt and peck everytime we wanted to change something on the tv. Pay the extra money and stay at one of the "real" resorts in ac.

This just wasn't the hotel for us.i dislike having to trot around a casino with my luggage to check in, and then having to put your key in the elevator to go to your floor was a pain, especially for all the older folks who stay there.upon entering the room,we discovered open pepsi cans and an ice tub full of water on the table.then when we opened the closet there were men's clothes left in it!the bathroom was small and the shower water had no pressure.i will never stay at this place again.

Very dissatisfied with the service provided. The hotel was dark and dreary. It created a depressing atmosphere.

Not All Bad

The sands is obviously one of the older hotels in atlantic city. In spite of this, the rooms and public spaces are nicely decorated and clean. My main complaint would be that the elevators are too slow and there are not enough of them. Also, during our stay which was only one night, the escalator going down from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor was broken and was not being repaired. Because of this, a lot of people had to use the elevators instead making them even more crowded and slow. Also we thought they should have more places to eat inside of the hotel itself. The casino was very nice and the shower in our room was excellent which is not always the case. And room service was very quick.

Extremely Satisfied

We stayed in the madison house portion of the hotel so I do not know if this portion is representative of the remainder of the hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean for the price. We had 2 beds, 2 bathrooms and a living room area. The beds were very comfortable.

The Sensational Sands

I stay in atlantic city often and out of all the hotels/casino hotels I have stayed the sands rates at the top of the list. The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The room service was fabulous. I used the room service twice and the food was excellent also the service was friendly and efficient. The casino had a good variety of games and provides a pleasant gaming environment. There is much more to enjoy that I have not mentioned. The only negative comments are the tv channel line up. Very few selections left me a bit disappointed and the air conditioning was not the best. However, everything considered a good experience. I would recommend to friends and family.

At the time of the registration, the room was not ready and made us wait for good one and half hrs. Room was non smoking but I felt previous client must be a smoker. Next day I went to the registration and I spoke to the manager who was able to give a better room.thanks. They do have good buffet dinner at a reasonable price and good italian restaurant.

I loved this hotel!! I arrived a few hours early and my room was ready for me to check in with ease. The front desk was very nice and helpful. The room was very clean and I loved the 2 full size bathrooms. I can't wait to go back in the very near future!

Nice Central Location

The location was very central to the boardwall and other casinos. While the hotel was clean, it could use a major renovation. The hallways were a putrid pink and needs to be brought into the new millenium.

The service in the hotel was a bit slow (and we checked in later at night) the hotel is in a pretty good location, the rooms are clean and you cant beat the free parking and cheap buffet (that was pretty decent as well).

The hotel was completely booked, we requested two rooms with two double beds each, hoping that one would actually be that way. Neither were, so we had 4 people in a room with 1 double bed, not even a king. Two kids slept on the floor. It took 45 minutes for housekeeping to bring extra blankets and they couldn't find any extra pillows.

Badly in need of update, styling very dated, old dirty paint throughout, stained and burnt comforters, broken beds, no modern amenities, toilet wasn't thoroughly cleaned before we checked in, etc.

The price was right but it felt like staying at a motel rather than a hotel. Interior of the room was old fashioned, no comforts, hair dryer didn't work, toilet kept running, many things looked tarnished and cracked. Overall, I did not feel secure staying there.

Honestly I wasn't in atlantic city to sleep. I was there to be out all night, hit the casinos, and have a good time. The sands casino is pretty nice, so it was convenient to have the room available for quick changes or a short break. I think we actually slept for 3-4 hours, and we only stayed one night! You can't beat the location, it's pretty much in the center between all the other casinos. And the price is awesome, you get more than your money's worth for atlantic city! I will definitely stay here on my next trip if I have to pay for a room, and I will book it through expedia to get the great price!

Who Stays In The Room Anyway?

Planned a weekend in atlantic city for my birthday with friends. This hotel was more than I expected after some of the bad reviews I read. Our room was in the madison tower and I didnt have one bad experience at all. The rooms were clean, the casino was nice and the location was superb. Its a small walk to the boardwalk and to get back to the hotel there is even a direct connection via people mover.

Hotel Staff Very Unfriendly
By Anonymous on Wednesday, June 07, 2006

I stayed with a group of girls for a bachelorette party. The staff was not nice at all compared to when i've visited other casinos. I'd rather pay more money and stay somewhere else. There were beer labels in the sheets when we arrived, but otherwise the rooms were fine. We had been hanging out at the main bar in the casino and spending a lot of money and then the bartender said we couldn't sit there anymore unless we bought more drinks. We all had drinks in our hands and had spent a lot of $$$-- very annoying. We had a few run ins with very rude employees and I will not be returning.

The carpets were stained and torn, the sheets were also stained... It was a non-smoking room but smelled terribly wrong. Front desk service was lousy and telephone charges made were inconsistent with those displayed in room but only got "thats the service we provide"... Lousy experience... Casino service was merely ok.

We were set up ion the madison suites which is an older ac building attached to the main casino.while it was nice to have a separate living room & bedroom, the lighting was inadeqate, it was noisy since it was near the parking garage and the beds were short (i am 5'5" and my feet were hanging off). On the plus side, it is near the boardwalk & boardwalk hall. Staff was courteous.

Ok Place To Stay for The Money

The sands is a pretty basic hotel and casino. If you're looking for luxury you should probably book a room at a better hotel/casino in atlantic city. We did not eat at the restaurants located in the hotel but did eat at the buffet once and the food was fair.

Horrid Room At First, But They Made It Better
By Anonymous on Wednesday, June 07, 2006

Visitor Review
Upon chech it at the "sands" the room that we wanted was non-smoking, they gave us a smoking. The room was horrid, smelled, not cleaned well, in a back corner of the 5th floor. We went to the front desk and nicely told tham that the room was unactable. It took about an hour but well worth it. We were moved to the 16th floor to a non-smoking room, and it also overlooked the ocean. Overall the hotel gave us exceptional service, and were easy to work with.
