Upon arriving at the holiday inn, there was no one outside to guide us as to what to do. So, while my husband went to check on our room, my girls and I started to unload the trunk onto the only cart that was not locked up. One of the bell boys then came out and told us he could not let us use the carts or he would get written up. Strike one. The room ended up being average but clean with a huge bathroom and a view of the ocean and the pool. For $114 a night, it was a good deal. We were on the 11th floor so that helped with the vista. Although the hotel is close to the end of the boardwalk, we were within walking distance of everything. One day we took the "jitney",(bus), to the light-house at the other end of the boardwalk and then walked back to the hotel. Of course, it was the hottest day and we had to keep ducking into casinos to get cool. It was cool to see everything. The steel pier didn't open til 3:00 that day, but oh well. Got alot of great pictures on the boardwalk that day. The beach was great. We just walked up to the boardwalk and then down the ramps to a very wide clean beach. There are alot of life guards who are very protective and don't let you go out too far. One day there was a very strong current and could understand their protectiveness. When it was calmer, they let you go out a little further. They do not allow flotation devices, but do allow boogie boards. We bought a few and had a great time with them.

The hotel was good. When I arrived the receptionist was very helpful and check-in was simply. The room was clean and the daily maintenience by the hotel staff was good as well. However, the restaurant I would not recommend. The dishes were not clean and the waiter was not as attentive as most waiters are. He never asked my table did we need anything or was our meal okay. I would not recommend the restaurant but the hotel stay was nice.

"Great Room, Great View, Wonderful Beach

Stayed at the holiday inn atlantic city september 2nd and the room was large and very nice. Would recommend staying here as it is right on the boardwalk and the surf is wonderful. Did not try the restaurant as there are so many to choose from along the boardwalk. Hotel staff was wonderful - when we checked in our key to the door did not work and the safe in the room was locked. We called the front desk and all was fixed within minutes. Thought pool overlooked the ocean as pictures show but it doesn't and is only 5 feet deep - no diving.

Good Place To Stay Right On Boardwalk

Boardwalk holiday inn is more than adequate for an enjoyable stay near all the action. Comfortable, clean, free parking, steps away from boardwalk between hilton and tropicana. Less expensive than the casino hotels. Food in restuarant good, staff friendly except for bartender.

Good Hotel On The Boardwalk
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Recently stayed at this hotel for two nights and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting atlantic city. It's right on the boardwalk and has a nice ocean view. The room was a good size, clean and had everything you would need. Holiday inn's do seem to take that extra step to make sure their guests are comfortable. My husband enjoyed the morning paper delivered outside of our door, the hotel restaurant was pretty good, and I found the front desk staff to be very friendly and helpful. We parked our car there without any hassles and we would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful Visit!

First trip to ac, stayed at the holiday inn boardwalk due to package found on hotels website. We recieved the best value! 2 nights accomodations, 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts for both myself and husband plus $100 total in gambling money to use... All for $209pp.... Couldn't beat value. Restaurant food was exceptional! Service in scribble's, especially for dinner was the best! Had requested oceanview room.... Got one on the 12th floor! What a view! Staff all friendly, clean hotel... Perfect location... Will definately be back! Only criticism would be the thin walls.. Could hear way too much hallway traffic and neighboring rooms door slams/shower usage etc. However, at midnight one night when an unruly bunch was 'partying' next door to us.. A hotel personnel did come up to their room and must have asked them to quiet down, because after that we heard nothing more from them. Overall, a great hotel from two people who travel to casino areas a lot.... Been to vegas several times, connecticut (foxwoods and mohegan), canada and now ac. Will be back to ac at the holiday inn before i visit any of the other places we like to go!.

I Was Very Happy With The Holiday Inn Atlantic City Boarwalk Hotel
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
I was very happy with the atlantic city holiday inn hotel on the boardwalk. I visited ac from 10/21-10/23/04, so it was a quick trip, but very pleasant. I was able to check in and out in a very timely fashion. I was given a large, clean room with an amazing view of the boardwalk and the beach and of course the atlantic ocean. I ordered breakfast the night before and it came to my room right on time, and hot, just like I like it. I will stay here when I return to ac, nj next year. My one and only complaint- the hotel alarm went off twice. Fortunately it was in the middle of the day, and not the middle of the night. I assume it was from somebody smoking in a non-smoking room. Which of course is not the hotels fault.

Customer Service & Quality Issues
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
Recently stayed @ this property for 3 weekday nights while attending a business conference. Last year, I stayed at the sands and encountered all sorts of business-travel-related problems (slow staff, no high speed internet, paid parking, per minute local calls meaning minimal dialup, etc). This year, I called around: free parking? Free local calls? High speed internet? The people @ holiday inn answered "yes" to all, so I booked. Not so fast. After checking in & getting up to the room, I discovered that calls were $0.75 flat fee - not a lot, but after a long travel day, I was ticked & made a (minor) stink. Called the front desk & spoke w/an irate person who essentially called me a liar. Eventually got connected to the manager, who was very nice & gave me free high speed for my entire stay. (stupid me forgot to ask in advance whether there was a fee - there was, $15/day. But yes, the parking was free & plentiful.) So i got the high speed. Unfortunately, the hotel just switched to a new wireless system and no one had a clue as to how to connect. I finally called it quits for the night & figured I'd start fresh w/the morning crew. About our room: we were given a corner "accessible" room - not something we requested, but nice none the less as it felt much larger than the regular rooms. If you're the picky type, it definitely felt a bit dated - some peeling wallpaper, etc - but overall the beds, bedding, furniture, tv, lighting, general cleanliness, etc was above average. (i'm not exceptionally picky, as long as things are clean, so it was more than enough for me.)

An Excellent Mini Vacation -Value for Money Package !!!!!

My husband and I went to atlantic city for the christmas break. We found an excellent package at the holiday in website for $147 per person we got a casino buffet dinner at the tropicana, holiday inn prime rib dinner, 2 holiday inn buffet breakfasts, free on site enclosed parking & (2) nights accommodation and $60 (coupon) which is traded for cash at the casino at tropicana and $60 at the hilton. Since it was also my birthday we were upgraded to an oceanview deluxe room and which had a spectacular view and were given 2 tickets to watch a show at the tropicana. The package was value for money the hotel staff is so helpful and sweet one of the servers went as far as to show us how to get to tropicana by an interconnected route from the holidayinn .the room' are nice and clean and the location is very central.

"Not So Great
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
Stayed here feb 2005 and used the casino package based on the reviews, but wouldn't stay here again. The deal was good because it was not worth more than $100 a night to stay here. The only good thing was the location (right on beach and close to the tropicana and hilton which is where you get the money and food for the package deal.) The room was sub-par. The carpet was badly stained, there was mold on the bathroom ceiling, the beds (got a double despite my reserving a king) were tiny and low to the ground. The backing of the chair at the desk was hanging on by one screw, ready to fall at any time. The phone by the bed did not work. The staff was not very friendly with the exception of a few waitresses. The dining at scribbles was not the greatest either. Breakfast buffet was edible but a lot of the food was cold the first day we ate there.

Loved The Hotel, But Check-Out Was A Problem
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
I stayed at the holiday inn atlantic city boardwalk for three nights over the new years holiday. The room was great. The problem was the check-out. We made our room reservations via orbitz and assumed we would get the rate we were quoted on the orbitz web-site. Upon check-out we were informed that the rate was almost a few hundred dollars more than the rate quote from orbitz and we refused to pay that rate. The front desk staff argued with us that since we gave a signature upon check-in, we agreed to the rate we were being charged at the time of check-out. We were told that we could not have been given the rate we were stating. The holiday inn room statements does not list the room rate for each night and the front desk staff person told us that the room rate listed for the first night of stay would be the rate for every night of stay unless there was a different rate listed. We told them that on the orbitz web site, the rate quoted was listed for each date of the stay and that with taxes included, the rate the hotel insisted we pay was incorrect. There we were at the front desk refusing to pay. We had to pull out the lap top and show the manager of the hotel the confirmation email we received from orbitz so that she would believe that we were not lying. The manager finally agreed and apologized. I told her that the rates they were asking us to pay for our three nights stay at the holiday inn atlantic city boardwalk, we could have stayed at a better quality hotel. If we had not spoken up, we would have been out of hundreds of dollars. My advice to other guest is to make sure you bring a copy of your hotel confirmation with you to the hotel, especially when you do not book on the hotels web-site. What will the hotel do to ensure this doesn't happen to other guest? What a terrible end to a very nice stay. I hope the employees at the hotel read this because we will be back. See you all soon!

Value for Money
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

My mother and I stayed at the holiday inn for five nights in march. We ordered a smoking room with two double beds but upon arrival were given a king size non-smoking room. Fortunately, we had stopped smoking anyway and enjoyed the terrific ocean view. The following day we moved to the correct room which was large, clean and modern. The only downside was the bathroom which, although large, was in need of modernisation and smelled a little damp. We ate at scribbles cafe a couple of times which offered basic but reasonable food. The breakfast buffet offered a nice choice of food but the 'hot food' was cold on both occasions. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were very friendly and efficient. Overall, this hotel proved to be good value for money and in an excellent location.

Terrific Location.Value/Service

I stayed at the holiday inn atlantic city boardwalk for 5 nights, from 7/17-7/22 and it was terrific overall. I felt the room rate was quite reasonable. The rooms were clean and nicely appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even calling to confirm that the housekeeping staff had done their jobs. The location is terrific as well, only a few steps to the boardwalk and right next to the tropicana. Of course there were some minor issues, such as an emergency alarm that went off as we were packing to leave. Scribbles cafe is okay, but not the best food in the world. The breakfast buffet had scrambled eggs that were too runny for my personal tastes. Also think twice before ordering room service. I was going to order room service, then noticed there was a mandatory 18% gratuity, a delivery fee, and tax. A bit pricey if you ask me, considering you can take the elevator down to scribbles and get the same food to go and save over 18%.

Stayed here 2 nights in july 05. Holiday inn was an average hotel for the price - clean and comftable and one end of the boardwalk and 1 min from beach. Free parking which was nice. The room did smell stale but nothing we couldn't live with. Ok if you want to stay in atlantic city and not pay trump prices.

Decent Stay At Holiday Inn Boardwalk
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

This is your basic average holiday inn experience. Nothing spectacular, nothing awful. The biggest stand out was the staff who were very friendly and responsive. Anything that we needed was taken care of promptly and with a good attitude. The room was clean and welll appointed. Since it was right on the boardwalk with an ocean view (off to the side a bit) $197 is probably an ok price.

Holiday Inn - Atlantic City (Average At Best)

The hotel was okay, but the houskeeping was extremely unorganized. We had to call down 3 out of 5 days to have our room made up. The hotel is priced good for atlantic city. The best thing about the stay was the happy hour, drinks prices very reasonable with free finger foods. This hotel at best is average. I would most likely not return.

Absolutely Awful
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
We stayed at the holiday inn- atlantic city boardwalk for a friday night and did not expect much other than a clean room (which would have been fine as who spends any time in their room in ac anyway!). In the end, I have to tell you that we were horrified. We have stayed at many a holiday inn and generally have been very satisfied. This is no doubt the worst of any of them, and among the worst motels I have experienced. First and foremost, we are not picky and generally are comfortable anywhere. But there were mold spores all over the bathroom when we arrived. My wife did tell management who responded that they are near the beach and it can't be helped. I have a suggestion - maybe clean the ceiling on occasion. These spores actually would fall into the shower when the water ran. Environmental nightmare!:)

Holiday Inn Atlantic City Boardwalk Was Just Awfu
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
We stayed on the second floor at the holiday inn- atlantic city boardwalk for one night sunday, august 28, 2005. Since we were staying one night, we didn't have high expectations about the hotel but expected to have a clean smoke-free room with a clean bathroom. The main room was okay, but we were not satisfied with the bathroom because the shower ceiling had mold spores that were very close to your head. The nasty environment was unhealthy for anyone and especially for me with allergies. The hallway and elevators were smelly and the carpet outside our room was wet from a leaking noisy ice maker. The check-in was a problem because there was no signage available to let you know where to go and people were just standing around wondering. The desk clerks were no help with logistics. The curly headed desk clerk was snappy when we overheard another guest with no reservations being given a cheaper rate and we inquired about getting the same rate. The elevators were slow and were used by the hotel staff to transport food and work supplies. There wasn't a separate elevator for staff and guest. The location was great, parking was extremely tight but free and it's really a shame that the hotel's environment and cleanliness doesn't make it a good place to stay. If you must stay here, take your own pillow and pack light so you can use the steps. I would not recommend staying here.

Great Long Weekend

Drove 10 hours from canada. This is our second time at the holiday inn. Received the weekend casino package deal. Great value. We stayed on the top floor overlooking the ocean. Awesome! Minutes from casinos, restaurants, and shopping. The hotel restaurant offered the 'best' prime rib dinner available. Staff friendly. Didn't use the pool, but it looked fine. Would recommend this hotel to everyone. Not too busy like the casino hotels. Check in and out was done in minutes. Definitely will be returning next year.

Good Stay In Ac

Several members of my family and myself and husband stayed here 10/6-10/10/2005. There was a problem with the rate quoted to us but it was eventually straightened out. We had a room on the 15th floor with a partial ocean view. The room was very attractive and clean, although the mattress was not very comfortable. Nice furnishings and an upholstered chair with hassock to put your feet up was a nice plus. Family members had rooms on the 6th floor that weren't nearly as nice as ours, but were very clean. One of 3 elevators was out of service causing long waits during checkin/checkout times. We enjoyed room service for breakfast for a reasonable price and drinks in the bar (happy hour 4-7 p.m.). We did not eat other meals in the dining room, but were there for a wedding and the food was terrific. For the price, $79/night, it was an above average hotel on the far end of the boardwalk - between tropicana and hilton. Not too far from trump plaza where other family members stayed. All in all a nice hotel.

Worst Hotel I'Ve Ever Stayed At
By Anonymous on Friday, June 16, 2006

Visitor Review
I have travelled extensively all over the u.s. and abroad but have never been as disgusted as I was staying at this hotel. Unless you don't care about room cleanliness and just like the convenience of being next to tropicana, I would not recommend this place. The bedsheets had stains, and the toilet seat had a burn stain. You would think they make enough money to replace a toilet seat. The only good thing I can say about the hotel is the staff was very friendly and helpful. Did I make it clear enough that you can't pay me enough to stay hear again.

Location The Only Positive for This Dated Hotel
By Anonymous on Thursday, June 15, 2006

Visitor Review
The location of this hotel is good and our room was fairly large, but those is the only nice thing I can say about it... My husband and I stayed here in december 2005 out of desperation at not being able to find another available room on a night we had tickets for an event. Our room looked like it had been was decorated in 1974 and its cleansliness was definitely questionable. The bathroom was cramped and in need of a major update. For $199, I can't believe there isn't a better option!

This is at most a two star hotel. The rooms are old, the pool is dirty and the resturant food is awful. If you're getting a deal with room and a meal it's because you wouldn't pay for it. Ok if you're on a tight budget and want to be on the boardwalk, however consider another hotel if possible. Would not stay here again.

Never Again

Visitor Review
My husband and I thought we would take a quick one day get away from it all. It was one of those last minute things so i was not surprised to find all of the hotels on the boardwalk booked. Through persistent determination I found a room at the holiday inn atlantic city boardwalk and I was happy that we could take our short excursion and stay on the boardwalk near the casinos. We arrived and the outside looked ok. Leaving the parking garage to get on the elevator to the lobby, I started to turn around and leave. The elevator was filthy. We got to the lobby which was not bad and the staff was very nice and helpful. Our room was on the 8th floor which we discovered later was up more than 8 flights. As we put our bags down I heard something similar to a siren and an annoucement that kept repeating that could not really be heard in the room. The siren came on and off in about three minute intervals but it was not very loud. I finally opened the door because I thought I heard the word stairs from the muffled announcement. I then heard an evacuation announcement coming from a distant speaker. I called down to the lobby and was told that a fire alarm had been triggered on the 11th floor. I asked if we should leave the building and i heard the desk clerk ask someone else "should guest leave the building?" she came back to the phone and said, "I don't think so. You can remain in your room". Needless to say we proceeded to the stairwell along with other guest. When we had descended 10 flights of stairs and not even reached the lobby I wondered if we would get out, panic time. I lost count after 10 flights but we finally rached the lobby and outside. My heart was in my throat. We returned hours later to find there was no fire but if there had been it could have been tragic for quite a few guests. I believe in being safe instead of sorry (or burned to a crisp). The room had dirty carpet, a huge crack in the window and rust at the bottom of the tub fixtures. I slept in my clothes that night, took a bird bath the next morning, early and got out of there. Bottom line, stay there only if it is the last place in atlantic city. I am sure there are worse places than that, though. Boy, was that a r & r getaway or what.

Clean But Very Smelly
By Anonymous on Thursday, June 15, 2006

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night over the thanksgiving weekend. We didn't expect much but since all the major casino hotels were booked, they charged us $239 + tax for a room! The hotel staff was very pleasant however the lobby, the elevators, the floor we were staying in as well as our room all had a strong musty odor. There were some flaws with the heating system (it kept shutting off and returning to 64 which meant you had to keep getting up to change the thermostat to keep warm. The worst thing was the bed. It was totally uncomfortable since it still had the old metal springs from years ago. To top it off, there was no refrigerator, which they had promised. Also, the ice machine was empty all night. I didn't think the hotel was awful but if given a choice, I wouldn't go back especially for that price. If you're looking for a tiny bit of luxury or at least comfort, or even a clean smelling room, you won't find it here.
